This video is about the Oracle of Delphi by swo8 Blues Jazz from the album Efharisto in iTunes. Delphi was built on the slopes of Mt. Parnassus overlooking the Gulf of Corinth. It housed the Treasuries of Knidos, Thebes, Siphons and Sikyon and the Temple of Apollo. It also has a Theatre and Stadium. It is roughly an hours drive west of Athens. It is here that people would hopefully come to see their future. The Oracle was a priestess over the age of 50. She would sit on a tripod near the entrance to a chasm that was emitting fumes. Her answers, to the questions that were submitted to her, were often ambiguous and even unintelligible. People would approach her with matters of the heart, business issues and matters of war to mention a few. I had a lot of fun with this one. 3:33 min 2 MB

Beware of the Feta Cheese.

Does it mean exactly what it says, or is there a deep philosophical significance?

Don’t let the Feta overtake the Olives.

These damned oracles, they always hold back some crucial information.

It was all in the fumes.

I’ve read something about the geology of the area that suggests there might have been a naturally-occurring chemical in the fumes that made the oracles hallucinate. Do you know about that?

Yes I did. She could babble unintelligibly.

Hi Leslie,
That was quite a captivating video and I am sure you enjoyed putting it together. Loved the Oracle’s responses. What is it that makes such responses so philosophical?

They can be interpreted so many different ways, Shakti. Sometimes she was just stating the obvious.

Thanks Jason. Greece is one amazing place. You can’t go anywhere without seeing an amphitheatre or some temple in the most unlikely place.

These photos are authentic and the Oracle of Delphi was ascribed to have special powers. People would come to her with questions much like in the song and she would answer but not in a direct manner.
Thank you for listening Mariag.

The answers were usually ambiguous and could be left for the individual to interpret.

The photos were taken by me while we were at Delphi. The Oracle did exist but it is thought that her readings were inspired by fumes escaping from deep within the earth at the temple. Also her readings were mostly open for interpretation. A lot of people look for answers to their problems, but answers usually lie within us not some Oracle .
