We stayed in a rather simple hotel in Iraklio, Crete. Crete is Greece’s largest and most southerly island. It has been inhabited since the Neolithic times (7000-3000 BC) and is probably the heart of the Minoan civilization. The British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans made some dramatic discoveries in the early 1900’s. He uncovered the ancient palace of Knossos. It is still in the process of reconstruction but it’s an exceptional find especially the many frescoes of Knossos. The photos are my own and if you ever venture to Greece this is well worth the visit.
Thank you Ian for the reblog.
