The Link: Democracy and the Media in Canada and the Estates of the Realm – Part 3

The ‘first estate’ usually represented the governing head – monarchy or elected representative, they tend to be the ultimate designers of the democracy that we adopt. The ‘second estate’, being the nobility (and perhaps the present day “multinational corporations”), the ‘third’ represented the general population and the ‘fourth estate’, the media, which denotes forces outside the other power structures. Today there is

even a ‘fifth estate’, which represents the outliers, or the whistleblowers of society.

  1. We are the fifth estate if you consider yourself an outlier or whistleblower otherwise we are the third estate – the “pleb”.
You’d think we had more clout, and maybe we have more than we think.

  2. I refuse to get the flu sot because of this. My cousin nearly died and it took a year out of her life. That the pharmaceutical companies can get away with this without penalty is criminal.

  3. This is so true, Leslie! But if you are associatede with the fifth estate let it know only your best friends, in Germany too. This way, there are a lo of difficulties you can prevent yourself. There are many ways of sublime suppression available. 😉 Michael
