As mentioned earlier, I ofter communicated with many of the other physics students at U. of T., who came from all over the world. They knew my strengths and weaknesses and I knew theirs…….One of the chaps I appreciated greatly was a redhead called John Burford. He had a mischievous glint in his eye and a sprinkle of freckles on his cheeks. The differences in our personalities probably led to our friendship. He was a suave Englishman from Bristol, and I, a hayseed from the colonies.
