I was out last night until midnight handing out flyers and I will be out again today handing out more and going door to door talking to people. They want to take some excellent park land and let the developers do their thing with it. (It’s called “intensification” and that means squeeze as many high rise units in as possible) It’s happening in Trosa, Sweden and Anna is fighting it there. I only found out about this yesterday. They are having a very under publicized meeting on Tuesday night that may well decide the fate of this prized public land. So today I’m posting Joni Mitchell’s song Big Yellow Taxi. Joni is a fellow Canadian and she was right on the mark on this issue. “We don’t know what we’ve lost till it’s gone”. 2:37 min. 2 MB.
Great cause…great song! I’ll send positive thoughts. I had family go to Standing Rock and that fight is far from over. Good luck!

Thank you erichmichaels, we often don’t realize the power of the individual and don’t fight for what is important.

I couldn’t agree more. In a world where money is king we have to show the oligarchy that some things are more important.

Oh no. It’s spreading in totally the wrong way. We should save nature everywhere not destroy it for new roads and exploitation. When will we ever learn? Please visit Leslie’s original post and give her support and inspiration to continue to fight. We all need nature, not new noicy roads! Comments disabled here, please visit original post instead. Thank you for the reblog Anna. I will be able to tell them, at the meeting, that people as far away as Sweden know about this now.

Good idea. I tell people over here that the world knows about the road project and don’t find it wise. Our local issues has now became global.

We had our meeting last night, Anna and a lot of people came out to it. Now out road will be an international issue too.

I’m with you on this! Now we have to make some global drawings. This “plague” of building new roads through nature has to stop. We have to start take better care of Mother Nature.

The ONLY reason it isn’t happening here is that we are too far from a big city to make it worthwhile. It just keeps getting worse, you know?

It does and if you don’t go out and speak up, they just go ahead with the plans of the developers. Meanwhile, they fail to put in the approbate infrastructure and we are stuck with increased traffic and pollution.

Go for it Leslie everyone has to do their part to make the world a better place to live … Developers have run roughshod over people for too long we live in a world of #ProfitB4People ITS TIME FOR #PeopleB4Profit ..Ian ⭐️🙏😊👍

Ian, I was out all day until late evening yesterday, knocking on doors and talking to people. I don’t care what side they are on as long as they participate. They have to go to the meeting and have their say. When it’s just between the government and the developers we don’t always get the best out comes.

As with many cases that l went to court on preventing people being evicted by wealthy property owners and lenders I found same scenario .. Best of luck …Ian

We blew their socks off, Ian. It’s going to be very difficult to push this through without much more discourse.

Good luck to you Leslie. I hope you will succeed in getting many people to the meeting so they can get information and take the right decision. Keep it up and fight as we do in Trosa! We will not give up.

Hi Ingrid, thank you. I just got back from the meeting. I think they were expecting about 50 people and had seating for 40. There were over a 100 people and they had to bring out additional seating and still some people had to stand. It was a very lively meeting and I don’t think they will be able to push this through without a lot more work. We don’t want the road at all. It’s a lovely forest area with a path that is used by a lot.

I love it when people come together for a cause and make a difference! We have seen much of this here in the past few months … many more are using their voices than before. Glad to hear your meeting went so well … we need to be preserving our forests, not building bloomin’ roads through them!
