Dragon Fire by L. Martel

This is a 12″ x 12″ acrylic on canvas painted in 2016 of a dragon spewing fire. The dragon was the symbol of the Emperor of China. Chinese dragons traditionally symbolize potent and auspicious powers, particularly control over water, rainfall, typhoons, and floods. The dragon is also a symbol of power, strength, and good luck for people who are worthy of it. Traditionally, the dragon dance is performed at New Years where the dragon chases a ball. The dragon chasing the ball or the pearl, is continually in the pursuit of wisdom. Hence the pearls of wisdom.
