These are a 12″ x 16″ oil on canvas boards, painted in 1976 and they are called Mallards in the Wild. The two paintings go together and reveal the kind of country view where our family lived for many years. For compositions sake, one is suppose to do odd numbers. The convention doesn’t like twos, but I do. Being a bit of a rebel – here are TWO ducks, male and female.
Beautiful.. Two is company 3 is a crowd 🙂

It reminds me of the salt marshes on Long Island’s south shore. We used to sail there, long ago, and the mallards nested there. Lovely!

Hello. The first pair of ducks perched on a branch are wood ducks. The second flying pair are mallards… Very evocative marsh scene… I just love it.

Beautiful markings (on male, of course!) A lot of skill in capturing that, and I like the way the landscape colours especially in the top one echo the colours of the ducks.

Beautiful mallards. We have mallards in the city river in my town. They live there all times of the year. Sometimes they go window shopping in the city 🙂

Actually, I think the pair sitting on the branch are Wood Ducks as mentioned by someone else. They are very colourful birds. Thanks for the visit Anna.
