The Doors of Uruguay – Door # 1

Uruguay is a lovely country. The architecture is very European in character and the language is Spanish. One of our memories is of the horse drawn cart that picks up the unwanted, used items from the side of the road. There would be a “clip clop” and the wheels of the cart. Just walking the streets we noticed the beauty of the doors. So I capture these doors with photos and started to create some paintings. This is an 8″ x 10″ painted in 2007, oil on canvas and is called Door # 1.

  1. I n Spain loved looking through doors like this that were open on lovely courtyards. I’m sure you have photos like that – more paintings to come.
I like the idea of a series of paintings called Door 1,2,3 etc. Do you know the Australian artist Rosalie Gascoigne? All her work is made up of found pieces – driftwood, old panels with the paint peeling off – they are really beautiful.

    • It is south of Brazil and north of Argentina. Lovely country you will love it. We took the hovercraft from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Montevideo, Uruguay. It takes about an hour.
