Ranakpur by swo8 Blues Jazz from the album Black Taj in iTunes

Ranakpur is located in a remote, wooded valley in Rajasthan and is about 90 kilometres north of Udaipur. It is noted for its remarkable Jain Temples. The Chaumukha Mandir,  (Four-Faced Temple), dedicated to Adinath and built in 1439. Within the complex there are two other temples, the temple to Neminath and Parasnath and the Sun Temple. The music was inspired by our visit.

I told Rajiv I was going to post the song Khajuraho by swo8 Blues Jazz today but I realized that I hadn’t made it into a video yet. Khajuraho is located in the Northern Madhya Pradesh Province of India. On reflection I realized that the erotica was the reason behind why I hadn’t undertaken this project. The Temples of Khajuraho were built by the Chandela dynasty that prevailed for five centuries before falling to the Mughals. This would be in AD 950 to 1050. The Temples represent creative genius and are one of India’s major attractions because of their sheer beauty and erotic carvings. The carvings in the temples are of such sophistication and quality that its importance is undeniable. If there is sufficient interest I will proceed with that project. Meanwhile I present the mystery and beauty of Ranakpur.
