Rhodos by swo8 Blues Jazz from the album Unfinished Business in iTunes

Greece has some 1,400 islands of which only 169 are inhabited. It was August and we bought return tickets to Athens departing in October. From there, we had no idea where to go in Greece, not even our first night stay was arranged. Upon arrival in Athens airport we immediately purchased tickets to fly on to Rhodos. The flight was about to leave in an hour so we grabbed our only luggage – two small carryon bags and my flute and headed for departures. Why Rhodos? We were on a quest, a quest to find the Colossus of Rhodos. All photos were taken by me and the last three photos are from the public domain with their imaginings of the Colossus.

    • Now may not be the best time to visit, but when things settle down, it is a treasure trove of beauty, history and architecture. It was, literally the cradle of civilization.

      • There is so much unrest, economic uncertainty and the influx of refugees. These will all contribute to a safety factor to tourists. Things will settle down and then I would go. If you go on a tour you will probably only see the main sites and although very beautiful (Santorini etc.) you won’t have much time for some of the more intriguing places.

    • Thank you so much, Khris, for your kind words. Yes there is much more. I will be rereleasing some of our videos of India soon. We use Apple’s iMovie for the videos and we create the music to go with it. We are currently working on Greece and then we’ll be moving on to China.

  2. A virtual trip to Greece. I’ve just done a summer school about ancient Greek history and philosophy and the lecturer takes study tours around the ancient world – that’s on my list of things to do.
