Holy Night in Blue by swo8 Blues Jazz from the Christmas Special Album in iTunes

Bethlehem is an ancient city and is considered the birth place of Jesus. Although the photos in the video are from the public domain some of the photos are of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. There was no manger but some man made artifice comprised of a star like symbol on the floor and these hanging lanterns. The door way to the Church will force most people stoop to enter and the actual area is below level in a cave like structure in the Church. We were on our own but there were other pilgrims who were extremely moved and began to sing “O Come Divine Messiah” in French. It was disappointing but moving at the same time.

    • Bethlehem was disappointing because, as you say, there was no manger, no barn etc. There was this glorious church which mankind had conspired to create a fitting birth place for the Christ Child.
Thank you for your kind wishes, Gert. We wish you and your family a peaceful and Merry Christmas.

  1. The Church of the Manger was one of my favorite places in Israel. The church is so very old. Beneath the church is a complete labyrinth of caves … and each “flavor” of Christianity claims that their piece of cavern is “the place” where He was born. It doesn’t really matter, though they squabble about it a lot. It’s a very special place … and I don’t think Shepherd’s Field has changed much in the past 2,000 years. In fact, Bethlehem has changed very little.
