Espionage Blues by swo8 Blues Jazz from the album Sahara Rose in iTunes

This is Rememberance Day, Amristice Day in the US. Time to reflect on the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. Let us not forget their sacrifice, also let us be aware of the many freedoms we have lost. In spite of these wars we live in a time when people are racially targetted by a militarized police. Our phone calls and emails are monitored. We are attacked by swat teams when we peacefully protest the Trade Deals that usurp local governments and undermine employment in our own small industries. Certainly there are things worth fighting for and even dying for. I will remember, but I will not wear a poppy. War is not the answer.

  1. An article in my newspaper arguing that we should respect the people who chose not to fight was criticised by some for being unpatriotic. In retrospect it seems all the more thoughtful a decision to have refused to take part in the first World War. No old soldier from that war I have ever met says anything but “It was a waste of life”. And soon we’ll have war at a distance, war by drones and robotic soldiers, so there won’t even be personal heroism to admire.
